Testimonials

“I have known Jessica as a student in teacher training, as a teacher in drop in classes and as an indispensable member of the Yogaspace teacher training faculty. In each of these roles, she has been determined, talented and reliable. An ex-dancer with a background in Pilates and Barre, Jessica is a creative and inspiring āsana, prānāyāma and meditation teacher with a kind, fun and nurturing manner. Her hard earned knowledge and commitment to the philosophical underpinnings of the practice put her in a rare category of teachers. An authentic and integral person, Jessica has developed a strong and devoted student base over her time on the Yogaspace drop in schedule and she has been the chosen mentor of many students going through teacher training. As the Director of my 24-year-old yoga studio, I have come to rely on Jessica tremendously. She is the teacher I have chosen to carry on my work, training yoga teachers and leading classes on our drop in schedule because she’s as smart as a whip, she is committed to the well being of her students, she is professional and to anyone who is lucky enough to cross her path, she is a dear friend.”

- Kathryn Beet, owner & director of Yogaspace Toronto & the Yogaspace 200 & 300HR teacher training program

“As a yoga teacher trainer and yoga philosophy instructor, it is rare to come across a person with the level of commitment and natural raw talent as Jessica Ullathorne. Her dedication to learning, self awareness and inner growth is deeply inspiring, and it has been one of the great pleasures of my 20 year career to have had the opportunity to work with her. Jessica is kind, personable, and extremely hard working with a single pointed focus. This combination of characteristics is exactly what it takes to not only succeed in ones' chosen profession, but also to succeed as a person who lifts and inspires others to be their own personal best. Jessica is a credit to our yoga community and I know that her amazing career is just beginning.”

- Hali Schwartz, renowned Yoga philosophy instructor & Yoga teacher trainer

“The first time I attended one of Jessica's vinyasa classes at Toronto Yoga Co. I remember leaving class being so surprised at the creativity, the compassion, and the physical challenge of the class - having never attended a yoga class quite like it before. It was that class that got me hooked completely, and was the main catalyst into my desire to become a teacher as well. Jessica leads with empathy, she is highly intuitive of each individual in her class, and when she pushes us that extra little mile, she tops it off with a smile; reminding us to be kind and practice with self-compassion. She integrates her deep understanding of Yoga philosophy into all of her classes, bringing the teachings of this practice forward and marrying all aspects of Yoga in a way that is consumable by any level of practitioner. I am constantly learning something new about myself, about others, and about the practice by attending Jessica's classes weekly.”

- Lindsey, public class Yoga student

“I love Jessica's classes, for me they are perfectly balanced between challenging and fun, strengthening and quiet, consistent yet always different. Jess makes everything look effortless – the āsana and the teaching. So I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn from her in the Yogaspace 200HR teacher training, and to continue working with her as my mentor afterwards. I've learnt to create safe, fun and creative sequences, beneficial to students of all levels. We also incorporate practical exercises and hands-on adjustments. She encouraged me to find my own voice as a teacher and most importantly the confidence to actually start teaching. On top that, her passion for teaching is absolutely infectious. I can't recommend mentoring with Jess more highly to anyone who is just starting out as a yoga teacher. Thanks Jess, for being a wonderful guide, mentor and friend.”

“Jessica is an attuned and self-possessed teacher whose understated presence, precise language, and gentle disposition set her apart from other teachers. She is sensitive and intelligent in the way she cues and choreographs her classes. It is always a joy to move with her!”

- Kate, public class Yoga/Barre/Pilates & teacher trainee student

“From the moment I met Jessica in my 200 hour YTT program in November 2019,  I hoped she would be my mentor. Jessica has the perfect mixture of kindness, dedication and passion needed to inspire her yoga students. She is a natural teacher both in her vast knowledge of yoga and in the unique way she connects and makes everyone in the room feel comfortable and important. Coming from a special education teaching background, I admire her amazing ability to modify poses and sequences to provide access for all of her students. I marvel at her knowledge of the body and conditions that arise as we age. Jessica is a very talented yoga teacher, instructor and mentor who makes an incredible difference every day. Her spark has and will continue to inspire her students to follow their path of self-awareness and finding their inner voice.”

- Heather, mentee & teacher trainee student

“Jessica is a welcoming, compassionate, and kind Yoga instructor. Each class she provides a mixture of yoga theology, anatomy, breathing techniques, a fabulous work out, and guided meditation. She offers new perspectives on regular ways of thinking and has a way of filling her classes with joy and positive energy.”

- Brittany, public class Yoga/Barre/Pilates student

“Jessica is an outstanding yoga teacher. She has an amazing ability to adapt her 'gentle' yoga classes to those using and those not using a chair, while also making suggestions for variations that might help us in dealing with specific issues. Her classes are beautifully organized with a great mix of repetition and new work and her explanations are always very clear and easy to follow. As a member of Jessica’s in-person classes, I was pleased to find her online zoom classes more effective than I could have imagined, as she creates a practice environment imbued with calm, quiet and consistent clarity, encouragement and support. Quite simply, Jessica is a gem!”

- Alexandra, public class Yoga student

“Jessica has a kind and gentle energy.  She makes you feel welcome in class and challenges you in your practice while also encouraging rest and moving at a pace that works for your body and where you're at that day.  Jessica is approachable if you need modification recommendations or have any questions and she takes the time to explain postures and support you in your practice.  Through Jessica's classes, I always feel invigorated, energized and refreshed.  Also, she has great playlists!”

- Haley, public class Yoga/Barre/Pilates student

“I am so grateful for Jessica’s classes because they are easy to motivate myself to do - they make me feel stronger and lighter at the same time. Her cues are simple to follow and the sequences are always unique, thoughtful and challenging, with so much warmth and humour thrown in. You can feel the love radiating through each posture.”

- Jordana, public class Yoga student

“I have been practising various ranges of yoga with Jessica, including level 1 and 2 Core Flow and Vinyasa, as well as Gentle Yoga with mat and chair. She is an exemplary and highly skilled professional practitioner and instructor. Each class has a range of positions that focus on all aspects of the body. She repeats some standard poses over a series of classes to foster improvement. She also introduces new poses or variations of poses to advance one’s practice.  Her instructions are clear and easy to follow as she gives options and describes the anatomical purpose and benefit of the postures. Jessica is a gracious, encouraging, positive and respectful teacher. She always accommodates the individual needs and skill level of each student. It is a delight and privilege to participate in her classes.”

- Mary Jane, public class & private group Gentle Yoga with mat and chair student

“Your classes, both in the studio and online, are filled with great variety, a genuine passion for yoga and you always seem to motivate me even on my off days. I love your sequences, playlists and how your sweet personality shines through each and every time. Thank you Jess for getting me through covid and allowing me to continue practicing with you. You are an awesome yoga teacher!”

- Robin, public class Yoga student

“Jessica has a very calm and personable manner about her.  She has a great way of explaining and guiding you into postures correctly.  Jessica creates an environment where one feels safe to explore their limits and grow their practice.

- Monty, public class Yoga student

“I’ve always found that in studio yoga classes were not for me, feeling uncomfortable, pushed beyond my ability and like I had to keep up with the other participants, so I gave up. I am now 59 years old, bigger bodied, have limited mobility and find even walking getting difficult. I knew I needed to improve my well-being, so although hesitant, I decided to try Jessica’s senior’s online yoga class. Jessica offers variations of stretches and poses to suit all levels and encourages us to go at our own pace so that everyone can get the most out of their practice. I especially love that she includes the option of using a chair, which makes me feel safe and confident to perform certain moves. I feel better, I move better, and my mood has also improved. Thank you!”

- Lynda, private group Gentle Yoga with mat and chair student

“It’s been a privilege getting to know Jessica. I started practicing with her about a year ago at Toronto Yoga Co. I’m usually nervous when I do a class with a teacher who is new to me but Jessica has a friendly and calm demeanour that put me at ease. Her instructions are very clear and the choreography is always interesting. Her classes challenge me and the time flows nicely. At the end of the hour I always think “really? That went by so quickly”. When quarantine began, I was upset that I’d be missing her and her classes, but luckily, she started to teach online. I never thought I would enjoy practicing alone in my living room, but Jessica always greets us by name at the beginning of each class, and gives me the sense of practicing in a community. I’m so grateful to her for this.”

- Adrienne, public class Yoga/Barre/Pilates student

“What I’ve appreciated about you the most is your caring, positive nature, how respectful and gentle you are with your students, and how challenging your classes are. You’re not a drill sergeant, but you have high expectations for your students. It’s a lovely balance for an instructor.”

- Aga, public class Yoga student

“Jessica is a great teacher. I have been attending her Core Flow class online via zoom and it's a nice mix of core work and Vinyasa style yoga. She uses illustrative verbal communication, which for someone who zones out and doesn't always use visual cues, it is ideal. Although, if you do need visual cues, Jessica does the class and poses with you - so you're never lost. I find the pace of the class to be a good tempo and I always feel accomplished at the end. I would recommend adding her class to your practice!”
